Depending where you live, buying the new Android smartphone nets you premium membership of Evernote, Endomondo, RunKeeper, The Wall Street Journal, and more for the princely sum of nothing at all.

Free stuff in the UK

In Great Britain, a free three months of LinkedIn premium connects you with serious business people doing serious business, so you can post your CV, talk to people in your industry, and hunt for jobs.

Stockpile your stuff online with three months of note-taking app Evernote, or 50GB of free cloud storage for two years in Dropbox, keeping safe your files, photos, music, and more.

To keep you fit, the S5 comes with a free year of premium membership to sports community Endomondo, which logs your running and cycling routes with the S5's GPS and records your progress. If you're already a member of a different fitness social network, the S5 also comes with a free year of RunKeeper, MapMyFitness, Skimble, and Lark.

Also on the exercise tip is a free three-month subscription to Instructor Live, an app that lets you download and watch fitness classes. That's worth it for the names alone: classes include "Cellulite Dynamite", "Beditation", "Top Guns", "Yogini Bikini", and "Pyjama Pilates".

To find your free stuff, unwrap your brand spanking new S5 and swipe to the Samsung Apps widget, which highlights apps that Samsung wants you to play with. Look in Samsung Gifts and you'll have handy direct links to download the apps offering you free access. Because you can choose which apps you want, your phone isn't clogged up with bloatware -- apps you don't want.
