RosettaNet names new chairman
The e-business standards consortium appoints semiconductor executive Bill White, CIO of Amkor Technology, as chairman of its executive board.
White will oversee the group's managing boards as well as its newly set up telecommunications industry council. He will work with the group's CEO, board members and senior staff on strategic matters including targeting new markets.
A key area of focus for White and RosettaNet will be to accelerate production implementations across the global technology trading networks and to promote broader awareness and adoption of RosettaNet's standards, the consortium said.
RosettaNet is one of several organizations that defines standards based on Extensible Markup Language (XML) for electronic commerce applications. Others include the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards, or OASIS, along with the World Wide Web Consortium and the Web Services Interoperability Organization.
"RosettaNet's tremendous value is based upon the fact that the standards are clearly business driven," White said in a statement.
In March, RosettaNet appointed a new chief technologist, Suresh Damodaran, to lead its technical and architectural efforts.
Currently, White serves as chief information officer at Amkor Technology, a provider of contract semiconductor assembly and test services. During the past year, he served as chairman of RosettaNet's semiconductor manufacturing board.
