The biggest Grand Theft Auto ever finally gets a release date -- sort of.

Developer Rockstar Games announced today a worldwide spring 2013 release period for Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, inspiring gamers everywhere to brush up on their reckless-driving skills.

To further excite the masses, Rockstar also noted that Grand Theft Auto V goes up for pre-order "everywhere" on November 5 and promised to release a "host of new information" related to the game. In the past several months, Rockstar teased curious gamers with a dozen screenshots from GTA V, which you can check out in the gallery below.

Oddly, Rockstar didn't mention the PC version of the game in the announcement and gave little information in response to those voicing concern about the situation. "We're currently focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game and don't have any details to share about a PC version at this time," noted a Rockstar representative.

Grand Theft Auto takes place in "a reimagined, present-day Southern California, in the largest and most thriving game-world we have ever created, set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and for miles beyond -- from the tops of the mountains to the depths of the ocean," said the developer in a blog post.
