Several users have reported that the notorious audio pop introduced by Mac OS X 10.4.10 has returned after installing Apple Pro Applications Update 4.0.1. Users afflicted by this issue report that every 1-2 minutes or so, a "pop" comes through the speakers even if the sound is muted.

MacFixIt reader Steve writes:

"Has anyone reported the audio popping issues returning after installing the recent Mac updates? It's the same issue as before, a noticeable "pop" a few seconds after the computer stops playing audio with external speaker attached to the audio out jack. In my case I am on a older MacBook."

Another reader, Jeff writes:

"After installing the Pro Applications update, my 2.33 GHz MacBook Pro now once again has the audio pop following any system sound, as the audio system shuts off (or so it appears)."

It appears that this problem can be resolved by simply re-applying Apple's Audio Update 2007-001, which also eliminated the issue for those experiencing it after applying Mac OS X 10.4.10.
