Retrospect Express issue with compressed files: a follow-up

Regarding our item last time describing how selecting Compression Filters from Retrospect Express resulted in compressed files not being copied to the back-up medium:

Pat Lee (of Dantz) explained that this is an advanced feature that is actually working correctly. It essentially tells Express not to copy already compressed files. More specifically, Pat stated: "The Compression Filter selector is a selector we use to not attempt to software compress files that are already compressed. Attempting software compression on a file that is already compressed will take more time and not save space. What this selector does is Exclude files that are already compressed. It is not meant for use in selecting files in a script or immediate operation."

Very briefly, most users should have no reason to ever use this selector. Other selectors, such as the default "All Files," will work fine and copy compressed as well as uncompressed files.
