Retrospect and CD-RW drives: TEAC; Sony
Thomas Armbruester found that he could get a TEAC W-516EB to work with Retrospect in OS 9.2.1, with the latest updates, as covered here.
James Walker writes: "I recently bought a QPS16x10x40x FireWire CD-RW drive, which turned out to have a TEAC mechanism. This drive is listed on the Dantz web site as being compatible with Retrospect. When I tried it with Retrospect, it worked, but only at about 2x speed! Dantz Support told me they knew about this problem, but since the drive 'worked,' they had to list it as compatible. I returned the drive."
Sony drive not "seen" Gary Hobish writes: "I've installed the Retrospect Driver Update 2.2, and the Retrospect Extensions update but Retrospect 4.3 still does not see the Sony CRX140e drive in my G4/533MP. Dantz told me they had had other reports of this nature from other 9.1 users, and they were looking into the problem and expected to issue a fix shortly. The update works fine in 9.2.1."
