The Curtis Stone Spoon Rest Williams-Sonoma

I admit: the first time I saw a picture of the Curtis Stone Spoon Rest, I couldn't quite figure out what it was. The shape reminds me of a high heel shoe--a profile that is definitely different from the little dishes I normally see as spoon rests. But after I found out the reason for the design, I was sold: the unique shape creates a well that the spoon sits in. You can fill that well with water to keep your spoons rinsed as you cook--as well as keep drips off of your counter and keep your spoons out of contact with anything you don't want to wind up in your food. The design comes from chef Curtis Stone, and offers an innovation for your kitchen.

The Curtis Stone Spoon Rest is made entirely from porcelain: it is dishwasher-safe and easy to clean. Since it does act as a rinse basin for spoons, it's worth making a point of running it through the dishwasher whenever you cook. The spoon rest is 7.5 inches by 4 inches by 8.25 inches, and the white porcelain makes for a striking appearance. It is priced at $39.95.
