The Motorola Moto X is a great Android phone already available for a pretty good deal -- ranging from $99 to nothing -- if you agree to a wireless contract. Now, there's another Moto X deal: Republic Wireless will be offering the Moto X at $399, off-contract, starting December 10.

It amounts to a $100 savings off the original Moto X unlocked price in the US of $500. But, the Republic Wireless version isn't unlocked at all. This 16GB version of the phone, which runs Google's Android 4.4.4, is carrier-locked to Republic Wireless.

You can upgrade or customize the phone design via the Moto Maker site when ordering, and Republic Wireless offers its own phone and data plans starting at $5 per month and going up to $40 per month for unlimited calling, texting and LTE data.

Keep in mind that Motorola had a Cyber Monday holiday promotion in place for the Moto X, offering $140 off a no-contract version or a Verizon model on-contract starting at 99 cents via a code that works through December 15. The Motorola holiday promotion was a better deal at $360. But Republic Wireless is still there as a solid backup. The point being: the Moto X is getting more affordable off-contract...but there might be other channels to find it this holiday, too.
