Report: Hewlett-Packard close to picking CEO
Bloomberg says the candidates are narrowed to internal choices. The list is reportedly at five, and each runs one of HP's major business divisions.
Sometime in the next week we could know who the next chief executive of Hewlett-Packard will be.
Since Bloomberg BusinessWeek reported Friday citing "a person familiar with the matter."a little over a month ago, HP's board of directors is said to have narrowed the field of candidates,
is reportedly at five, and each runs one of HP's major business divisions: Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president of the printing business; Todd Bradley, executive vice president of the PC and mobile device business; Ann Livermore, executive vice president of the enterprise business; Dave Donatelli, head of the storage and server business; and Tom Hogan, executive vice president of enterprise sales and marketing.
That the board of directors is trying a different tack in selecting the new CEO isn't too surprising. The last two chief executives were outsiders that were brought into HP--Hurd came from NCR, and Carly Fiorina arrived from Lucent--and both of those choices soured in the end.
The current acting CEO, Cathie Lesjak, said from the start she has no interest in the permanent position and intends to return to her role as HP's CFO once the new CEO is installed.
