Rejoice! Samsung shrinks Gear 2, Fit's redesigned charger

Forget that snap-on charging cover. The Gear family of wrist-worn smart devices sports a smaller cradle that takes up far less space.

BARCELONA, Spain --If you spent any time at all hating on the snap-over charging cradle that encompassed the original Samsung Galaxy Gear, you'll be relieved to know that the new Gear family has a smaller charger that clips into each device.

Samsung showed us chargers for the Gear 2 smartwatch and Gear Fit fitness band -- the small pucks snap on easily and lift off quickly thanks to a little lip on one side.

Just as with last year's model, the charger is equipped with Bluetooth and NFC; a tap of a compatible Samsung smartphone or tablet preps the Gear 2 or Gear Fit's manager app for installation.

Although each of the wearable's chargers share the same design, they aren't interchangeable. Keep an eye on these little guys -- they're small enough to easily misplace.
