Sound on NuBus Macs The latest in the continuing saga of sound-related problems in Mac OS 8.1: a new Apple TIL file discusses a problem Controlling Volume On NuBus-Based Power Macintosh. "The volume control in the Monitors & Sound control panel will not control the volume of speakers or headphones connected to the sound out jack." A fix is promised.

Update: As reported by several readers (including Jamie Loeb and Kevin Newman), using the separate Monitors and Sound control panels, likely found in the Apple Extras folder, instead of the unified Monitors & Sound panel, should work-around this problem.
