ReadIt! incompatible with Epson scanner

Bob Dalley claims that ReadIt!OCR 6 does not work the Epson Expression636 scanner and Mac OS 8. "When I try to scan within ReadIt!OCR 6.0, after selecting the 'Epson TWAIN' in the Scanner Options menu, I get an error message saying 'ReadIt! is unable to access the selected scanner. Please check connections.'"

Bob adds: "After a couple of weeks talking to Olduvai technical support, they say that the ReadIt!OCR 6 program has a documented conflict with Epson's implementation of the TWAIN driver. They have no fix at this time. At this writing, Olduvai did not know whether a bug fix would be released soon, or whether they would wait to include a fix in the next major release of ReadIt!OCR. ReadIt!OCR 5.5c will still work with Mac OS 8."
