App launching problems: Try reinstallation If you're having problems launching applications after installing QuickTime 7.4.5 through Software Update, try manually downloading an reinstalling the standalone version of the update (available form Apple's download page).

Meanwhile one MacFixIt reader fixed app launching problems by restarting and repairing permissions -- though one or the other could have been solely responsible.

"I had issues once I updated, as soon as the update took place I could not launch Safari nor Apple Mail. Both would abort, it got to the point where both applications offer to "Reset" themselves. This also proved fruitless. I rebooted twice, and in-between one of the reboots was able to repair permissions. It is now all well."

Distorted/non-synced video Some users have reported distorted video, or video that does not sync with audio during playback after applying the QuickTime 7.4.5 update. One reader writes:

"I just noticed that now that I put the latest Quicktime 7.4.5 update on a week ago, my Quicktime video playback is screwed up. The video motion fills the picture with great  shakiness and distortion -- so bad that it is impossible to view it."
