QuickTime 7.2 Special Report: Compressor crashes on launch

QuickTime 7.2 Special Report: Compressor crashes on launch

CNET staff

Several users have reported an issue where, since updating to QuickTime 7.2, Compressor fails to launch.

One reader writes:

"I can open Compressor, load up more than one clip, wait 5 seconds, and I literally mean, drag and drop two or more clips, then count to 5, CRASH! It's not even "working" aside from loading the clips. It is was not happening on my Powerbook, which is still on QT 7.0. I just updated my Powerbook, tried to duplicate the problem with QT 7.2 on it, Crash! Same thing."

In some cases, this issue can be resolved by removing Compressor with an application uninstaller like AppZapper, then manually deleting /Library/Framework/Compressor.framework and removing the add-on Qmaster. Then re-install Compressor and check for elimination of the crashes.
