Fix for conflict with DiskWarrior 3.0.3 We previously reported that, for some users, DiskWarrior repeatedly crashes after installation of QuickTime 7.0.4.

Our initially posted fix was to revert to QuickTime 7.0.1 via the available re-installer, but MacFixIt Forums poster Tom-X has discovered another workaround, as follows:

  • Quit DiskWarrior 3.0.3
  • Control click on DiskWarrior 3.0.3 and from the contextual menu select "Show Package Contents"
  • Locate the "Complete.aiff" sound file - the path is: - DiskWarrior 3.0.3.app -> Contents -> Resources -> Complete.aiff
  • Rename the "Complete.aiff" sound file "Alert Complete.aiff" - then close ALL windows"

Problems with re-posted 7.0.4 version Meanwhile, users continue to report issues with the apparently re-posted version QuickTime 7.0.4 , continuing to resort to version 7.0.1 for alleviation of the problems. Unfortunately, QuickTime 7.0.4 is required by the iLife '06 applications.

MacFixIt reader Jeff Lambert writes:

"I've wrote to you about the problem with Quicktime 7.0.4 and recording on OS 10.4.4. I've finally tested the setup again by first reinstalling with the Reinstall 7.0.1 Quicktime installer, then upgrading to 7.0.3 and now it works. So, it's not a 10.4.4 issue but a Quicktime 7.0.4 one.

"I'm planning on getting the new iLife, but it says minimum requirements are Quicktime 7.0.4, I don't know if I'll be able to downgrade after the install or if the app will still work if I try."

Another reader adds:

"Followed the posted advise regarding the re-install of 7.0.1. That fixed the problem of the kill of Java.

"I just now tried the upgrade that is now posted on software update. It also kills java. This is on Panther running on a Rev A iMac."
