QuickTime 6.0.2 Causes Networking Problems?; iMovie Failure

CNET staff

Networking Problems Apple's quietly released 6.0.2 update to QuickTime is causing networking problems for some readers, oddly resolved by deleting the application's preference file. Gerard Farrell writes:

"I installed the update on Jaguar (10.2.1). When I restarted, DHCP failed to assign an IP address to my machine. Rodgers Cable tech support said on their end that IP was requested by the Mac, and the server attempted to assign, but the Mac wouldn't accept the IP. While on the phone with tech support, I went into the Users/me/Preferences/ directory, threw out the Quicktime preferences files (two of them) and reapplied DHCP. The problem was solved."

iMovie Failure Roland Gustafsson says that iMovie ceased proper functioning after applying the QuickTime 6.0.2 update:

"After updating to QT 6.0.2 (by downloading full installer from apple.com/quicktime) iMovie no longer launches... Crash log shows that the crash happened when the Toast VCD plugin was loading. I removed the plugin from both iMovie and the QT folder (in libraries) and now iMovie works again."
