QuickTime 4.0 conflicts reported: AOL's browser; PhotoDeluxe

AOL browser and QuickTime A reader was having problems loading web pages from the web browser integrated into AOL's software (v. 4.0; revision 17.56). The stand-alone version of Explorer worked fine. He contacted AOL tech support about this and among their recommendations was to disable the QuickTime Settings control panel. This worked! He was running Mac OS 8.6 and QuickTime 4.0.1. I have no further information on the rationale behind this recommendation.

PhotoDeluxe and QuickTime A reader reports that PhotoDeluxe would consistently freeze when opening a JPEG file. If he uninstalled QuickTime 4, the problem vanished. This probably relates to numerous QuickTime, JPEG and Photoshop problems reported here previously (do a search on "photoshop, quicktime" to get an overview).
