CE Software has released an upgrade to its venerable macro utility QuicKeys X which includes new features, bug fixes, and stricter license enforcement.

One license one user Bill Cheeseman (of AppleScript Sourcebook) writes: "If you're on a network, 1.5 will notice another running instance of QuicKeys with the same key and quit automatically. It's hard to complain, since this restriction was in the original license, but people might want to know when deciding whether to upgrade. I can't find any mention of this on the CE Web site."

Feature changes in version 1.5 The ability to select menu items in applications, close, collapse, zoom and toggle the toolbar of windows, issue a series of Click steps at one time, the Click Shortcut has been redesigned and improved to be a powerful and configurable tool, and new Computer Shortcut options let you create Shortcuts to start Classic, stop Classic and start your screen saver. Also, the Server Shortcut has been improved to make it easier to create server Shortcuts, the duration of a Pause Shortcut can now be set to less than a second and the maximum duration is now limited to one hour. Finally, the Open Items Shortcuts no longer incorrectly report errors when an application is launched.
