Quicken 2006 (#2): Old help files displayed -- solutions; Transactions will not disappear from download window

CNET staff

Old help files displayed -- solutions As noted in the Intuit support forums, Quicken 2006 may incorrectly display help files for the previous release of the software (Quicken 2005).

In some cases, this issue can be resolved by performing an uninstall (instructions for an uninstall can be found here), then a subsequent re-install of the Quicken 2006 package.

In other cases, deletion of four specific files -- three .plist files and one cache folder -- associated with Apple's Help Viewer may be required.

Close Help Viewer, and drag the the following files, located in ~/Library/Preferences/

  • com.apple.help.plist
  • com.apple.helpui.plist
  • com.apple.helpviewer.plist

and the following folder, located in ~/Library/Caches

  • com.apple.helpui

to the Trash. Re-launch Help Viewer and check for persistence of the bug.

Transactions will not disappear from download window A number of users have reported an issue where old transactions that have already been dealt with (accepted, deleted) persistently display in the Downloads window each time it is accessed.

In some cases, this issue can be resolved by creating a new account while retaining the old transaction data via the following process (make sure to create a backup of your current account data before attempting this):

  • Export all transactions in your current account, then delete the account.
  • Quit Quicken, and re-create a new account, then import all of the old transactions
