Forums postings We have had several previous items covering problems with Quicken 2000. Quicken 2000 has also become a hot topic on the MacFixIt Forums. Note especially the thread titled "Quicken 2000 Problems, Crashes." It describes numerous issues, including crashes and problems with online banking. Other threads of interest are a and b.

PIN number problem? Ernest Baldini writes: "Installed Q2000 and it wanted 5 character PIN for on-line bank account access. My bank is a 4 character PIN outfit! Bank on-line dept. didn't know Q2000 was asking for 5. Called CheckFree (Intuit's on-line banking outfit) and they did not know about the problem. They told me to call back in about 4 hours." Ernest later wrote: "It appears that Q2000 defaults to 5 character PINs until you download the latest Financial Institutions list under Online in menubar. After download and select 'Use,' then Quit and reload. Voila! Q2000 now accepts 4 character PIN if your bank runs on 4. Both CheckFree and my bank are now aware of procedure. BTW, all other aspects of Q2000 installation using Q98 files went very smooth. This was my only problem with Q2000 changeover."

Portfolio price history data issue John Losee writes: "Quicken 2000 now splits off portfolio price history data into a separate file called 'Quicken Quotes' located in the 'Quicken Essentials' folder of the installed program folder. In Quicken 98 and prior versions this data was part of the users individual Quicken data file. I found this out when backing up the main data file between my two Ethernet-networked computers and running the backup file on the 2nd computer--all portfolio price history (5 years worth!) was zeroed out - which obviously produced huge errors in my pension accounts, etc. This was because the Quicken Quotes file generated on my 2nd computer during its install process was zeroed data, and I didn't transfer that additional file to the 2nd computer. Upon transferring this file to the second computer everything was accurate. I'm really glad I discovered this now (Intuit customer support immediately told me the problem) before I needed to use a restored data file. I have been saving only my Quicken 2000 personal data file without the vital Quicken Quotes file - all price history is lost when using the main data file only, so that 'net worth' and 'insight reports' all show zero values for portfolio items."
