Que! Fire CD-RW and DAO According to QPS, there are some problems with Disc-at-Once on the BurnProof drives (see previous coverage). Joe Murray received this response from concerning the freeze during writing in DAO mode. "We are experiencing some problems with the back panel on the drive working with the Burnproof chip in disk at once mode. We do not have any solutions at this time." Update: A MacFixIt Forums thread also covers the Disk-At-Once issue with Toast and Que! CD-RW drives. CameraMate and Mac OS 9.04 conflict The latest USB driver, 1.20, has fixed a conflict with virtual memory for Alan Gallimore. He writes: "Using my iMac with MacOS 9.04, the computer froze on inserting a SmartMedia card into the CameraMate reader. Disabling virtual memory had cured this problem, but after updating the Microtech USB driver to version 1.20, it makes no difference if virtual memory is on or off." Netscape 6 PR3 and Logitech mouse According to a reader report, Netscape 6 PR3 does not work with the wheel on a Logitech wheel mouse. [See also previous Netscape item.] Update: Marc Fuller adds: "I have been unable to make it work with the Microsoft Intellimouse scroll wheel either." Mark Harris confirms this. Macromedia Shockwave Ping slowdown Removing the PluginPingLib file in the Shockwave 8 Folder in the Macromedia Folder in the Extensions folder speeds up Shockwave. Alistair Fraser writes: "I noticed since the August update that my browser (Netscape 4.75) often hangs during loading especially if there are two or more Shockwave movies per window. When PluginPingLib was removed, loading was back to the pre-summer fastness; when replaced, the browser would again hang."
