QuarkXpress 7.1.x: Double printing (documents printed in duplicate)

Double prints of multiple copies.

CNET staff

Peter Trondsden reports an issue where Quarkxpress 7.1.x prints jobs in duplicate -- if the users prints 2 copies, QuarkXpress prints 4, print 10 copies, QuarkXpress prints 20, etc.

Peter writes:

"I have been trying to resolve an issue with Quark 7.1 and higher printing double prints to a Canon Fiery, when printing multiple copies of a document. I tried the recent CUPS updater, but it did not solve this problem. Additionally, Quark 7.0 does not have this problem, and neither do PDFs made from Quark files.

"So, I decided to make a Postscript file to troubleshoot, what I found out is that the 'copies' call out is inserted twice. Once at the top of the Postscript file and once in the PPD section of the Postscript file. Changing the copies to one in the top part fixes it. Changing it in the PPD section reverts it to one copy.

"This obviously a programming bug with Quark. (Generic PPD produces same output)."
