Word to Quark glitch? Dan Stranathan found that "when text from Word 98 containing subscripts and superscripts are imported into Quark XPress 4.x, the subscripts and superscripts display (and print) at a much bigger size than what they are in Word 98. Text created in Word 5 imported into Quark works fine. It appears to be a problem with Quark's Word filter. Update: A reader suggests: "The problem may be that you have the subscript-superscript size set larger in Quark than in Word. You can set that size under prefs." HP and Quark glitch? Douglas Carden describes a glitch with the version 4.02 driver for his HP DeskJet 970Cxi printer and QuarkXPress: "When I printed a CD-jewel-case insert from QuarkXPress, I found the document scaled smaller by one-fourth inch. All the dialog boxes everywhere for scaling were set at 100%. I removed the driver and installed my original HP software (created 07/99) and the problem went away." Update: Jay Nelson points out that this may be due to having the Fit-to-Page option turned on in the Print dialog box. However, Brian Hemmings replies: "I can confirm this is indeed the case and this bug has been there with every version of the HP driver since version 3.02. To demonstrate this failing to print at 100%, all one has to do, is draw a text or picture box with a visible frame, just within the printable margins of the page and when printed in Quark 4.11, it very obviously has been scaled or shrunk."
