PlayStation 3 is ready to rumble.

Unveiling a new live-event streaming app Tuesday, PS3 kicks off the service with a WWE Championship bout between John Cena and Daniel Bryan, part of WWE's "Summer Slam." The application can be downloaded for free later Tuesday on the PlayStation Store.

In addition to watching events live, PlayStation Network users also have the option to watch the events on demand. Some will be free, while others will require a pay-per-view fee.

PS3 already has other live-sports streaming through third-party apps from professional sports leagues, like MLB and NHL.

The new app should help Sony keep up with the Xbox 360's cache of streaming-video services, though details are sparse about how much content the PS3 live-event app will offer.
