Problems with Virginia Tech G5 "Terascale" Web site and Safari

CNET staff

Although Virginia Tech purchased 1,100 dual processor Power Macintosh G5s for its Terascale supercomputer, the Web page for the project does not work with Apple's Safari browser (nor Internet Explorer 5.2.x for Mac OS X).

MacFixIt reader Michael Stupinksi writes:

"Virginia Tech may have bought 1,100 Mac G5's for their Terascale Cluster project, but don't expect to see the slide show of the project on your Mac via Safari. You will get a message saying:

"'This presentation contains content that your browser may not be able to show properly. This presentation was optimized for more recent versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer.'"

"I tried proceeding anyway and saw only black screens. Another link on that page titled 'Pictures' gets you a notice that you don't have permission to access them."

We tested the page with Internet Explorer 5.2.3 and had similar results.
