Problems with Apple Video Player on 5500, 6500 and 20th Anniversary Macs

CNET staff
Two new TIL files from Apple cover problems with Apple Video Player, specific to Power Macintosh 5500, 6500 and Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh computers. File #24446 notes that Apple Video Player may crash when the user clicks the Freeze button to capture a single frame of video. In #24447, Apple notes that when you try to capture a single frame of video using the Freeze button, the resulting picture has a gray tint to it. These problems only occur under Mac OS 8.0 and 8.1.

In both cases, Apple plans a fix in a future release of the software. As a temporary workaround, you can revert to Mac OS 7.6.1.

Update Apparently, these glitches are not fixed by the 5500-6500 Video Input Update released last month. Also: Eric Westby reports similar problems on a G3 Mac.
