Problems booting from AppleCare-supplied TechTool Deluxe CD (#3)

Problems booting from AppleCare-supplied TechTool Deluxe CD (#3)

CNET staff

We continue to report on issues with booting  from the TechTool Deluxe CD for Intel-based Macs, provided as part of AppleCare.

It now appears that these issues are due to discs not yet revised for the latest Intel-based Macs, and Micromat (developers of TechTool Deluxe) will soon issue a downloadable disk image that remedies the problem.

MacFixIt reader Steve Schifrin writes:

"They acknowledge the issues booting some of the latest intel Macs, as the DVD for v4.5.1 was issued before the new machines were released. The boot-up issues will be remedied in v4.5.2, and a call to Micromat can get you on the list for a new installer/boot disc.

"They also warned that the shipped v4.5.1 will hang during the Video Memory test on both the 24" iMac and the MacBook Pro. A fix for this problem is hanging on their web site, as others have mentioned."

Meanwhile, Christian Pickman from Micromat told us:

"We are taking names of those who receive a TechTool Pro 4.5.1 CD that does not boot there latest Mac Pro or latest Intel iMac."
