If you're having trouble clearing your mind of the weekend fog today, put on your favorite closed-back headphones and press play on this 40-minute SoundCloud mix of atmospheric video game music from titles like Silent Hill 2, Fez and Gone Home.

Gamebient is a set of 17 ambient tracks hand-picked by a DJ out of Berlin named Basco. The songs are all sourced from video games in some form or another, but they can also stand on their own as more than just background music.

Brooding tracks like Chris Remo's "Calm After the Storm" from Firewatch and "Subwoofer Lullaby" from Minecraft Volume Alpha are closely related to the work of composers like Harold Budd, Pete Namlook and Brian Eno. They add emotional gravity to a scene in a video game environment, but the repetitive tones also work well if you need an unobtrusive soundtrack to relax your day.

You can stream Gamebient in the SoundCloud embed below, or click here to download the mix.
