PowerPoint 98 slide 0 printing bug with LaserWriter 8.6

PowerPoint 98 slide 0 printing bug with LaserWriter 8.6

CNET staff
When using PowerPoint 98, Mike Paci found that he could not print page 0 of a slide deck when using OS 8.5.1 and LaserWriter 8.6. He was able to print using 8.1 and another version of the LW driver. A quick but inconvenient fix is to create a dummy slide 0. He contacted Microsoft about this and they replied:
It is reproducible using the LaserWriter 8.6 and printing either to a LW8500 or a LW16/600 printer. This behavior happens repeatedly using Mac OS 8.5.1, Microsoft PowerPoint 98 and the LaserWriter 8.6 driver. At this time, the work-around is to use a different printer driver, either a different version or different manufacturer."

Update: Ted Thibodeau reports that he had this same problem with LaserWriter 8.5.1. Further, there is a Microsoft Support Document (ID: Q182921) that covers this. Essentially, it places the blame on the LaserWriter Print dialog box, which "does not recognize zero as a valid page number."
