PowerBook ATA drive and SCSI Disk Mode problems

CNET staff
Apple has identified two potential problems with using PowerBooks with ATA drives in SCSI disk mode. "One problem occurs with replacement internal ATA hard drives greater than 4 gigabytes in capacity and SCSI disk mode. This problem only occurs on PowerBooks prior to the PowerBook G3. The second problem relates to certain size replacement ATA hard drives and PowerBooks prior to the PowerBook 3400."

Details are in a new Apple Technote. Apple's Brian Bechtal summarizes the critical details on a new MacFixIt Extras page.
