The upcoming Ricky Ponting International Cricket game will now feature official real world tournaments thanks to the International Cricket Council's (ICC) endorsement.

Ricky Ponting International Cricket, which is set for release this September for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC, has been given the all clear by the ICC to use real world tournaments such as the ICC Cricket World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy.

The game will also feature all the official ICC One-Day International teams, with 16 players per squad, and stadia from around the world, including The Oval, Newlands, and Edgbaston, as well as the SCG and MCG.

The ICC deal also brings authentic strips and real name players with detailed facial likenesses to the game. So, in addition to Ricky Ponting, players will get to face or play against cricketers such as Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, Andrew Flintoff, SR Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Andrew Strauss.

The game is being published by Codemasters and Atari.
