PlusLotto adds more Net games
PlusLotto, a well-publicized site that debuted last March, changes to its lineup, the latest sign of the increased demand for Net lottery games.
The lottery, which donates 25 percent of all money received to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, has the distinction of creating the first Internet lottery and the first Internet lottery millionaire.
It is an example of the surge in Net lottery and gambling games,
which comes despite uncertainty about Net gambling regulations in the United States.
The changes affect the format and payouts of the weekly game. Two new games--"Mega Bucks" and "Big Easy"--have been introduced and will offer bigger jackpots and better odds.
"Mega Bucks" promises a jackpot of 2 million Swiss francs, or $1.35 million. "Big Easy" has the best odds of all the PlusLotto games, with a jackpot that accumulates until a player correctly guesses all six numbers. PlusLotto has also updated the look and feel of its site.
Last month, the Net lottery paid a Greek resident 1.25 million tax-free Swiss francs, or approximately $860,000.
In a related development today, email list provider L-Soft announced an online lottery with prizes of Listserv licenses and merchandise worth $500,000. To win instantly, a contestant must correctly guess the exact number of emails processed by the Listserv server on any given day.
The Listserv lottery has had around 100 players a day, according to Michael Goldstein, marketer for Listserv. The game runs until October 15.
