Pink designer phone riffs on love

Fashion designer Giambattista Valli's new phone has an iconic pearl necklace for a strap and a miniature pink skull.

At first, it looks like just another pink phone (blah, blah, blah), but there's actually a bit more to the Nokia 7373 Special Edition.

Nokia 7373 Special Edition phone

Designed by fashion designer Giambattista Valli (OK, I confess I've never heard of the guy; he wasn't on Project Runway), the phone marries the grand architecture of Nokia's L'Amour Collection with Valli's iconic pearl necklace for a strap, and a miniature pink skull. The set is Valli's interpretation of the contradictory elements of romance, wherein shiny and happy sometimes exist perilously close to dark and, well, not so happy.

The phone will walk the catwalk during Paris Fashion Week. The Nokia 7373 Special Edition also comes in a black chrome version, which fuses a glossy black finish with an en vogue grosgrain and onyx-like crystal strap. A little black skull adds the finishing touches.

Each handset comes preloaded with a behind-the-scenes video that looks at the life and inspiration of Valli. The phones also have a selection of matching Valli wallpapers and graphics and the exclusive ring tone "Rhodium."

The skull-bearing fashion phones will cost an estimated 280 euros (about $370), excluding taxes and subsidies, and will be available in select European markets in March.
