Photoshop CS3 beta: Serial number rejection (cont.); Mac licenses for Windows users

Serial number rejection (cont.) We continue to report on an issue where some users are unable to properly use their Photoshop CS2 serial numbers to remove the 2-day expiration of the Photoshop CS3 beta.

As has been noted several times, a Photoshop CS2 serial number cannot be directly entered into Photoshop CS3. The Photoshop CS2 number must be entered into the CS3 serial number generator, and the resulting serial number entered into the downloaded Photoshop CS3 beta product.

John Nack, Product Manager for Adobe Photoshop, tells MacFixIt:

"I continue to get comments to this effect on my blog, but every time I follow up, people report that they were simply entering their CS2 numbers into CS3. We've tried to make it really clear (much clearer than it was initially) that customers need to obtain a CS3 serial via https://www.adobe.com/go/photoshopcs3beta_serialnumber. If that fails, the can contact us [...] I've posted info, including the customer service email address, (in this blog entry).

Mac licenses for Windows users In another interesting revelation, Nack tells us that despite earlier indications that Windows serial numbers would not work to activate the Mac OS X version of Photoshop CS3 and vice-versa, the company actually will exchange Windows serials for Mac OS X serials.

John told us: "Quite a few customers have requested that we issue Mac serial number in exchange for Windows serials, so that Windows users can migrate to the Mac. We're happy to oblige, but I haven?t spread the word all that widely because we didn't want to deluge the support staff while they were working reduced holiday hours."
