Extensis PhotoTools Confirming our previous report about problems with PhotoTools, Jaddie Dodd pointed out that the Photoshop ReadMe states: "The PhotoBars plug-in included with Extensis PhotoTools exploits features that are unique to earlier versions of Photoshop and does not strictly adhere to Photoshop's plug-in specification. As such, it is incompatible with Photoshop 6.0. Other plug-ins included as part of the Extensis PhotoTools package should continue to function correctly with Photoshop 6.0. Note: Extensis PhotoTools 3.03 is not compatible with Photoshop 6." A Photoshop beta tester noted that a number of third party plug-ins will have to be updated in order to work with version 6 due to some changes Adobe made regarding how plug-in's operate. Kaleidoscope 2.2.4 conflict? "The gray background areas of tool palettes go black, so you can't see any "docked" palettes or read any of the actions etc," writes Peter Hammond, "The issue is present on both my G4/400 and Pismo PowerBook. Virtual Memory Also noted in the ReadMe file: "Generally, Photoshop's performance will be best with Virtual Memory turned on. If you should find the performance of your input tablet to be unacceptably slow you can turn VM off, but the improved performance will be at the expense of Photoshop and the Mac OS requiring a large amount of additional memory they would not require with VM on."
