Photos: LG Netbook X110, free with a Phones4U contract?

Let's pretend for a minute that LG actually does love the UK and that it isn't releasing it's Netbook X110 just to cash in on the Eee fad. It's small, cute and has built-in GPS

As much as we love netbooks, it's difficult not to be cynical when we see a new one arrive in the UK. That's especially true when said netbook is made by a manufacturer that's previously refused to release any of its laptops in our region. We're looking at you, LG.

Anyhoo, let's pretend for a minute that LG actually does love Britain, and that it isn't releasing its Netbook X110 just to cash in on the Eee's success. What it's come up with is a portable laptop that will ship in white, black and pink, have a 10.1-inch 1,024x600-pixel screen, measure 262mm by 180mm by 19mm, and weigh a not-too-svelte 1.2kg.

Inside, the Netbook X110 uses a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, an 80GB hard drive and Windows XP Home edition. Most interesting, however, is the inclusion of a GPS chip. This sets it apart from the competition, but we can't imagine anyone installing a netbook in their car. Surely integrated 3G -- for go-anywhere Internet access -- would have been a wiser addition to a laptop? Still, at least it has 802.11b/g Wi-Fi.

The Netbook X110 will probably be available for free from this October, provided you sign up to a mobile phone contract with Phones4u. Details of the specific contract haven't been announced, but click through for more images and info on the X110 itself. -Rory Reid

Because the X110 is relatively large -- by netbook standards -- LG has been able to cram in a decent-sized keyboard. Shame about the mouse trackpad though -- it's a little on the small side.

The pink and white lids, nestling side by side, yesterday.

If there's one thing that can sell netbooks, it's attractive, coffee-drinking women in short skirts. Let's hope that keyboard is spill-resistant. For everyone's sake.

We're guessing the purpose of this shot is to show that the X110 runs very coolly, thanks to its Intel Atom CPU. If it doesn't, Ms Mini Skirt is about to get some even hotter legs.

This one's for the ladies, and indeed anyone with a thing for men in beanie hats.

What happens next? Beanie Man fires up the GPS and falls over. YouTube implodes from the sheer weight of lol.
