PGP replies on PGP Security 7.0 Regarding our item yesterday on PGP Security 7.0, we updated the item with a reply from PGP. MouseWorks 5.50 freeze/crash We know that not all MouseWorks users have this problem, but several users have found that, after installing MouseWorks 5.50, they would get a freeze/crash on the next startup. Reverting back to their previous version of MouseWorks fixed the problem. (Thanks, Ben Kettlewell, Ira Altschiller, and others.) iTools Yesterday, we reported that iTools Installer is now at version 1.0.3. However, if you run the Installer, you still apparently wind-up with the 1.0.2 iTools Plug-in in your browser's folder. (Thanks, Dave Santo.) VPC and Rio 500 A MacFixIt reader writes: "The RIO 500 comes with a program called Audible Manager which allows you to download audible books to the 500. Unfortunately, it is only Windows compatible. I purchased Virtual PC because it advertised USB compatibility and for the specific purpose of using it with my RIO 500 to use the audible books package. However, even though you can see the RIO selection in the Virtual PC USB selection window... it does not 'recognize' it. Connectix said that they are aware of the problem." Update: A reader suugests dumping Audible Manager and using SoundJam instead. "Many Rio players come with a "lite" version of this indispensable program, which features direct support for Rio players as well as Nomads from Creative Labs." Brother drivers There is a Color TWAIN Driver (for USB port users only) available for the Brother MFC-9600. Recent Twain and Printer driver updates (released in June and July) are available for other Brother units (start at this link). Netscape security issue Not exactly new news but worth noting: Macintosh Security Site points out that "Netscape stores saved passwords as cookies in a file called MagicCookie. This file will contain any "saved passwords" in plain text.
