PC Magazine reviews iLife PC Magazine has chimed in with its opinion on Apple's now-shipping iLife suite: "The only iLife tool that isn't upgraded is iTunes 3.0.1 , which means that it can't draw from the other three apps in the suite. An Apple rep told us that iLife is on a different development schedule. That's a shame, because iTunes could use a boost to keep up with other music players. The lack of a CD label maker (which, in keeping with the iLife spirit, could draw on iPhoto's picture library), seems especially conspicuous." More.
Tech firms file EU complaints against Microsoft The Computer and Communications Industry Association, which includes companies like Oracle, Sun and Yahoo, has filed several new complaints against Microsoft with the EU. "Microsoft's overwhelming dominance and its abuse of that dominance reaches into every corner of Europe and harms virtually every business and consumer who uses a computer." More.
Mac OS X for Windows users David Coursey's new book, Mac OS X for Windows users - a switcher's guide, has gone on sale. "There's a lot involved in moving to a new operating system-files to be ported, software to learn, Internet and connectivity issues to iron out, and a new interface to unravel-but you'll find everything you need here to get up to speed quickly as well as understand the subtle and not-so-subtle differences between the Windows and Mac operating systems." Wired News on Konfabulator Wired News profiles Konfabulator, a JavaScript runtime application for Mac OS X that runs little custom programs called Widgets. The program was designed by programmers Arlo Rose and Greg Landweber - authors of the popualar interface customization tool, Kaleidoscope. "From the installer onward, Konfabulator is extremely slick. It uses Apple's Quartz rendering engine to give Widgets beautiful, detailed graphics and silky-smooth animation." More.Resources
