Panasonic DMC-FZ150 is a 24x snapper
Panasonic has a new toy, the 24x zoomin' FZ150, which also packs Full HD video recording and a 25mm wide-angle lens.
Panasonic's got a brand-new toy with a 24x zoom -- the Panasonic DMC-FZ150 is a superzoomin' snapper with Full HD video capture, perfect for snooping on neighbours, or capturing photos of elusive rare birds.
Design-wise, the FZ150 is near-identical to the FZ100, a camera we awarded three and a half stars in our review back in September. That's not a terrible score, but we're hoping the FZ150 can fare a little better.
It's certainly packed to the gills with tasty tech -- that 24x optical zoom is courtesy of a 25mm Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens, and as we touched upon before, 1,920x1,080-pixel video capture at an impressive 50fps is also on the cards.
The 24x zooming powers of the FZ150 will still be at your disposal even when you're capturing video, and you'll be able to take 3.5-megapixel still images while in the middle of recording video.
Interestingly, there's a slight drop in the megapixel count from the last version. The FZ100 boasted 14.1, while this version musters only 12.1 megapixels. But as any shutter-nutter will happily tell you, it's not all about the megapixels.
We thought the last version was a little expensive, so we'd love to see this one coming with a more modest price tag.
There's no word on pricing yet though. Panasonic has said the FZ150 will be out in October, so we won't have too long to find out how much it'll cost.
