PalmSource said on Tuesday that it's tapping Linux provider MontaVista for help taking the Palm OS into the Linux world. MontaVista specializes in helping companies create Linux-based phones.

As part of the arrangement, each company is joining the other's partner program. "By joining MontaVista's Mobilinux Open Framework partner program, PalmSource is further demonstrating its commitment to enabling Palm OS...to run on Linux," PalmSource Vice President Albert Chu said in a statement.
