Painter 5 and Charcoal conflict (and a work-around)

Scott Melchionda reports a conflict between Painter 5 and Apple's Charcoal font. "I had been experiencing disappearing menu items, windows trailing when dragged and a general meltdown of the interface when switching to the Finder from Painter 5." He spoke with MetaCreations tech support about this and was told to switch the system font to Chicago (via the Appearance control panel).
