OS X Utilities Updates: SoftwareManager; XMorph; Fire.app; XLocate; RBrowser; more

SoftwareManager 1.0.1 is similar to Apple's ProcessViewer. It lists all the running applications foreground and background; displays Applications Creator, Size, and info; shows where the application is in the Finder; and allows you to close the application and releases the memory used.

XMorph 1.5.1 is a theme changer for Mac OS X. It can read the TPKG format. Additionally it can import .theme files and .rsrc files for use in themes. XMorph also allows you to choose between 3 different Genie effects, and can change the transparency of the Terminal. XMorph DE 1.5 is the developers edition of XMorph.

Note: XMorph 1.5 had a bug that could corrupt your OS X system - leading to a blue screen crash at startup. This new version fixes the bug. There is also a patch for those who were already bitten.

Fire.app 0.27.b is an multiplatform instant messenger client based off of freely available libraries for each "service." Currently Fire handles AOL Instant Messenger communication, ICQ communication, MSN Messenger, Jabber, and Yahoo! Pager communication.

XLocate 0.5.3 is a front end for the UNIX locate and find programs. locate is the default method and is extremely fast, but uses a database which is updated weekly (the default in Mac OS X). The new version filters for .app and .dock contents and .files (hidden files).

RBrowser 2.88.6 provides access to files on the local host as well as remote Unix systems with an easy-to-use graphical interface. RBrowser provides a uniform interface to distributed file transfer and file related operations, greatly simplifying access and use of files on remote systems scattered across the Internet. RBrowser uses FTP and SSH as transport.

Passenger 2.0b2 is a server account creation and password generation tool that will import tab and comma-delimited text, ASIP 6.3 and Mac OS X XML and create account information and passwords for AppleShare IP 5-6.3, Mac OS X Server, Macintosh Manager, Eudora Internet Mail Server, WebSTAR FTP, WebSTAR Web, Master Spell and Master Key.

Samba 2.2.1 is an open source software suite that provides seamless file and print services to SMB/CIFS clients.

ZipIt 2.0b8 is a beta version of this compression utility, designed primarily to test Mac OS X compatibility.
