OS X Utilities Updates: Podestal; DAVE X; Key Xing; Youpi Key; CronniX; more

Podestal 0.1 allows one to easily download any files stored on Apple's iPod. The application provides two views into the files on an iPod; a file view and a music view. The file centric view works much like the Finder's list view. The music view parses the ID3 tags associated with the MP3 files and organizes the< various mp3 tracks by Artist, Album and, finally, tracks.

DAVE X 3.1 is the latest version of this Mac to PC file and print sharing software. It now has long file name support (more than 31 characters) in OS 9 and OS 10.1; support for files larger than 2 gigabytes with HFS volumes.

Key Xing 1.2 launches almost any type of file or program with a key stroke. New in this version: No more modification key requirement for the hot key. Now you can use "plain old" function keys.

Youpi Key 1.5.0 is a macro utility for OS X (along the lines of QuicKeys). This update adds many new "action types."

CronniX 1.5 provides a GUI frontend for UNIX's crontab. Otherwise accessed via Terminal, Cron allows scheduled execution of shell scripts and applications. New features in this version include: "Run now" command allows you to execute a task immediately; Check box to activate/deactivate tasks; Contextual menus for tasks.

A Better Finder Rename X 4.2 allows users to quickly rename multiple files. The update offers improved support for Mac OS X long file names. A bug affecting the renaming of file extensions has also been fixed.

DiskCatalogMaker X 2.5 a simple disk management tool which catalogs disks. This version supports editing disk names.

Synk X 4.0p2 is the latest version of this backup and synchronization utility.

UnicodeChecker 1.0 displays a range of characters by their Unicode Numbers. For a given number, UnicodeChecker will display that character and a number of subsequent characters.

WirelessDriver 1.0.0b3 is an open source driver for Prism and Prism2 -based wireless Ethernet cards for OS X. Now those with older PowerBooks can join into AirPort networks at homes and many offices.
