OS X Utilities Updates: FinderEye; Xsounds; SharePoints; Text Wielder; Key Xing; more

FinderEye 1.0 is a Mac OS X Contextual Menu Plugin. It adds to the Finder's system wide contextual menu a number of must have commands: the ability to copy the path of the current file or folder to the clipboard; open the currently selected folder in a new window; lock and unlock the current file; open the current file or folder with another application; change the creator and type of a file to that of a template file.

Xounds 1.1 brings back Appearance Sounds to Mac OS X. New in this version: Sounds are now played panned in stereo; It is possible to choose types of sound effects to play (Controls, Windows, Menus, Finder); more.

SharePoints 2.0.1 is an application or a preference pane that makes it easy to add and delete share points like in the old Finder. the update adds password creation when adding a new user instead of having to type <sudo passwd>.

Text Wielder 1.0b2 allows you to create your own services or use any of the 120 provided including "Search Apple Help", "Translations", "Sort Text Lines" and many more. Services are now pre-compiled which means they will run faster.

Key Xing 1.4 launches applications, files, folders, and AppleScripts from the keyboard.

Vicomsoft Internet Gateway X 8.0.1 is a "Internet connection and management tool that delivers the full range of security features required by any size of business or Education network." The update offers improved support for QuickTime streaming.

OmniDiskSweeper 1.2 is an OS X version of this utility that lists every file and directory on that disk, sorted by size. You can then delete ones you do not want.

Portraits & Prints 1.0.4 is designed to be streamlined, easy-to-use, powerful, yet unintimidating. Digital photographs can be quickly imported and arranged for output on high quality color printers. Special tools for modifying each photo's brightness, sharpness and saturation as well as intelligent red eye reduction provides easy control over image quality. The latest update includes a couple tweaks & fixes that make Portraits & Prints work better with iPhoto.

PTHCPUMonitor 0.8b displays the system load on the menu bar.

Reboot9 1.0 will choose your System 9 folder for starting up, quit any open applications and then will reboot your computer. [Read warnings in Read Me file before using!]

DocklingWrapper 1.0 will take any dockling (sometimes called Dock extras or docklets; and no longer supported by Apple) and create an application that will mimic the behavior of the dockling.

Macally Mouse/Trackball Installer beta for OS X has been updated since its initial release. Neil Lee found it fixed the problems he had with the first version.

Brother Monochrome Printer driver Ver.1.10 has been released. It supports printing via Apple Talk with NC8100h for MFC9660,9700,9800 and 9880; supports duplex printing for HL-1650/1670N. (Thanks, Geert Van Kerckhove.)
