This is a collection of early reports covering some aspects of what has changed with the Mac OS X 10.0.1 Update. We have yet to confirm most of this information, so your mileage may< vary. We expect to refine this report have additional coverage as soon as more information becomes available.

Adjusting Screen Brightness on a Pismo We found that after opening and closing the Display system preferences, we could adjust the screen brightness from the keyboard. Changing the volume still does not work for us.

iTunes improvements not evident John Chapman writes: "Poking around in the 10.0.1 package, I see quite a few files have changed. I also found a very brief ReadMe file that claims iTunes support and USB improvements, although no specifics. I checked out iTunes 1.1 (OS X), but saw nothing new. Worse, the visualization still feels like it has the hiccups - only about 5-7 fps and very jumpy/jerky. iTunes under OS 9/9.1 is much smoother." Derek Fang confirms: "The issue where sound just stops playing in iTunes when system load gets too high is still there on my PowerBook."

iTunes skipping James Lopez writes: "The update has not fixed the skipping CD playback issue on my iMac DV 400 (summer 2000). MP3's play fine, but CD playback in iTunes, Audion, QuickTime, and the CD player dockling all skip."

Won't install because not enough space available Frank Linares writes: "I'm unable to install the 10.0.1 update because of an error message reporting that I don't have 300 MB available. However, I have over 20GB free on my boot volume. I tried logging on as a root and received the same error."

Apache downgrade Gary Stahara writes: "I had updated to Apache 1.3.19 for Mac OS X, and verified with Netcraft.com that the install was successful and that I was running the newer version. However, after updating to OS X 10.0.1, I am now back to 1.3.14! Appears Apple's update downgraded Apache for me "

SSH out of date Robert Levandowski writes: "The version of SSH that Apple shipped with the 10.0.1 update is out of date. It's version 2.3.0p1. The current release is 2.5.2p2. The 2.3.0p1 version is pretty ancient, and lacks fixes for several security holes found in OpenSSH."
