OS X software at the keynote

We did not mention this in yesterday's coverage of the keynote: The keynote included a series of demos from major software publishers on their latest OS X releases and yet-to-be-released products. [press release]

Adobe apps announced The highlight of the OS X demo series was Adobe's. They revealed that:

After Effects 5.5 for OS X was now shipping.

In Design 2.0 for OS X would be shipping soon.

GoLive 6.0 and Live Motion 2.0 for OS X are being announced at the Expo. We can now reveal that we have been a beta tester for GoLive 6.0. The last beta we tested still had some significant bugs which we hope are fixed for the release version. However, overall, it works great. Although it seems slower than running GoLive 4 or 5 from an OS 9 boot, it is much much faster than running GoLive 4 or 5 in Classic from an OS X boot. We have been using it to compose MacFixIt each day for more than a month now.

Photoshop for OS X is promised, although no date was given. They did show a demo of it, making special note that there is now a built-in spell checker.

The demo included working with a Lord of the Rings layout moving among all the different Adobe apps. Very cool.

More demos Other demos showed the new Palm software, Final Cut Pro 3 (with its real-time effects editing), Mathematica, and the Harry Potter adventure game.
