Password limit Several readers have found that the OS X only checks the first 8 characters of the login password. Anything beyond that is ignored.

TextEdit files corrupted? Gregory Lawhorn was working on a TextEdit document. He closed the file and moved it to the Desktop. He writes about the problems that then occurred: "I was no longer able to re-open the file in TextEdit. I restarted under 9.1, copied the file, and opened the copy with Word's Recover Text from any File feature. Apparently, the sermon file had been completely overwritten by other data, including the strings <key>ExplorerImportedPrefs</key> and <key>ExplorerToolbarConfig</key>. Needless to say, I'm not going to be using OS X until I gain some assurance that files are not being randomly overwritten.
