Canon scanner driver keeps OS X prevents sleeping Kevin Patfield found that while the scanner driver worked in Classic mode as claimed, it can prevent for Mac from sleeping. He writes: "When the scanner driver is installed and the scanner is plugged in then my Sawtooth G4 running OS X 10.1.1 and 9.2.2 will not go to sleep. The monitor and drives shut down but immediately after entering deep sleep the system and drives wake up again. The workaround is to disconnect the USB cable from the scanner."
Hard Disk ToolKit and Tri-Backup Anthony Kassir writes: "According to FWB, you cannot use the Tri-Backup 3.0.4 update with FWB's BackUp ToolKit, even though the latter product is identical to, or almost identical to, Tri-Backup. The 3.0.4 update to fix the problem should be available for BackUp TooKit in a few weeks."
Drive 10 CD prevents boot? Dave Gross found that he was unable to boot his iMac DV from the Drive 10 CD unless he first disconnected his Belkin hub, which hosted an iSub and Epson 777 printer.
Now Up to Date/Contact 4.1 prevents sleep? John McCauley writes: "After updating to 10.1.1 on an iBook, the system would no longer fall asleep via the Energy saver timer, although manual sleep still works okay. Uninstalling NUD restored sleep. Reinstalling it once again disabled sleep once again."
Update: Bill LIsham does not see this symptom on his tower G4. Greg Myers does not see it on his iBook. Something else must also be involved.
Norton AntiVirus 8 beta 2 problem reports continue Several users have reported additional problems with NAV interfering with Internet Explorer. As we have noted before, its probably a good idea to avoid this release until Symantec gets the bugs ironed out.
