Help Viewer crash linked to locked files? Olof Henning found that his problems with Help Viewer crashing (see previous item) were due to files in ~/Library/Preferences/Apple Help Prefs being locked. When he unlocked the files, all worked well.

AirPort settings Roberto Jourdain found that, to get his AirPort setup to work, he needed to enable the "Enable DHCP server on Ethernet" and "Enable AirPort to Ethernet bridging" settings - even though the Apple document on AirPort Networks states not to enable these options if you are using a cable modem.

Software Base Station petition If you want to sign a petition asking Apple to provide a AirPort Software Base Station, here is the place to go.

SoundBlaster and OS X Josh Aas updates us on the situation with Mac OS support for SoundBlaster Live!: Creative informs him that they do intend to support OS X, but gave no release date.

Cisco VPN client Alex Dearden notes: "Cisco recently released a Mac OS X VPN client for 3000 (and some 5000) series concentrators. This allows you to securely (3DES encryption) tunnel in to remote networks. It only works from the terminal at this point but is easy to set up and use. The great news is that it works with AirPort! And now we finally have a secure client for Mac OS X. Very exciting news for whoever has a Cisco concentrator of this series."

No Services for Office Several readers have expressed their disappointment that Office v. X does not appear to support OS X's Services feature. [Note: Starting in OS X 10.1, Services is supported for Carbon, as well as Cocoa, applications. However, applications need to be specifically written to access this feature.]
