Get a Drive 10 bootable CD As we previously noted, although the recent update to Drive 10 is free, it is of limited value unless you can get it onto a bootable CD. In this regard, Walter Basil was told by MicroMat that they would send him a CD for free - if he sent them the old CD, together with a Drive 10 serial number, a copy of the receipt for Drive 10, and a self-addressed padded envelope. They added: "If anything is missing, it may take a while to notify you, process the information in our database, and ship out the CD."

1969 reset This Apple Discussions Board thread covers the 1969 date reset problem we have noted here before - which may not be fixed after all.

AOL and AirPort glitch? A reader claims that when you login to AOL via AirPort 2.0, your Internet access is limited to AOL's software, as access depends on AOL's DNS servers. Thus, for example, OS X's Software Update could not be used to download software. We have not confirmed this ourselves but, we suspect that if the report is accurate, there is still likely to be a work-around. Stay tuned.

Too much RAM for Classic? Mark Fukami was getting an assortment of errors while using Classic on his G4 with 2GB of RAM. He writes: "I went to the local Apple genius bar and the tech suggested that Classic might not be able to handle more than 1. 5 GB of RAM and to try pulling some. I did and all the error messages went away and all Classic apps printed correctly. Some other anomalous glitches with classic also seemed to stop."

Update: KB article 58839 confirms a 1.5GB limit for RAM on QuickSilver G4s.

Corel Draw 10 install problem Richard Berg recently purchased Corel Draw 10 for OS X (the upgrade version). I have Corel Draw 8 installed on the same computer that I tried to install Corel Draw 10 on. The Installer failed to find Corel Draw 8 and thus refused to install Corel Draw 10. Corel Support told him that "lots of people are having the same problem." They suggested this could happen if the prior version was not in its "default" location. However, Richard is certain that the software is in its default location. They also suggested deleting Coral Draw 8 and starting over with a reinstall. He has not tried this as yet.

Sage Software replies on Timeslips for OS X We previously posted a reported quote from Sage Software, stating that they "are not planning on coming out with a Mac OS X version" of Timeslips, their time tracking software." Mike Savory (Product Manager for Timeslips) replies: "While we have no immediate plans to release a Mac OS X version, we are thoroughly researching our options for an eventual upgrade. We are reacting appropriately to our customer's demands, and right now, we have received very little demand for an OS X version of Timeslips. This level of feedback confirms the findings of our own research, which indicates that only a small percentage of Timeslips customers have yet upgraded to OS X."

Control-I and Finder We may have mentioned this before, bit just in case we didn't: Matt Waggner points out that Control-I and Control-Shift-I can be used to affect Finder windows. In Column view, they move you up and down the column hierarchy. In List view, they shift the column used to sort the list. [Several readers pointed out that Tab does the same thing in Column view, they do different things in List view. In List view, you can use the arrow keys as an alternative.]
